At Razorback, we take pride in providing ongoing support and sharing our knowledge to help new and experienced owners alike. Thank you for visiting—we invite you to explore our herd and discover the charm of Pygmy goats.
We absolutely love our goats! Breeding happy, healthy, and well-natured Pygmy goats is at the heart of everything we do. What started as a small passion has grown into a dedicated stud where every goat is treated like part of the family. Each one is raised with care, plenty of attention, and lots of love, so they grow into friendly, confident little characters with big personalities.
At Razorback Miniature & Pygmy Goat Stud, we put a strong focus on quality genetics, correct type, and overall wellbeing. All of our goats are DNA tested and carefully managed to ensure they meet breed standards and thrive in both health and temperament. We believe in ethical breeding practices and take pride in producing goats that not only look the part but also have gentle, loving natures.
Whether you’re looking to start your own stud, expand your herd, or simply welcome a sweet companion into your family, we’re here to help guide you. Our goats make wonderful paddock pets, show animals, and breeding prospects, and we’re always happy to share advice and ongoing support with new and experienced owners alike.
For us, Razorback is more than just breeding goats—it’s about sharing the joy, laughter, and charm that these incredible little animals bring to everyday life. From their cheeky antics to their affectionate nature, Pygmy goats have a way of brightening up every moment, and we feel lucky to share that joy with others through our herd
We are located near Picton NSW
Our journey with goats began back in 2014 when we welcomed our very first two miniature goats, Willow and Buttercup. What started as simply keeping a couple of pets quickly grew into something much bigger—we became hooked! Their playful personalities and sweet natures sparked a passion that led us into breeding and soon after, showing goats. To our delight, we did very well in the show ring, which only fueled our dedication further.
As we learned more, we realised the importance of breeding from the very best lines to improve type, health, and temperament. Around this time, Pygmy goats were first being introduced into Australia (2013–2014). We instantly fell in love with them—their adorable short, stocky build and cheeky but gentle temperament captured our hearts. From that moment on, we knew we wanted to focus on Pygmy goats and make it our priority to breed not only the best bloodlines but also the best pets and breeding prospects possible.
Today, our herd includes carefully selected goats, including our prized buck Harlem, whose sire is an American import. His father’s semen was brought over to Australia to strengthen genetic diversity and improve the breed here. Harlem carries those new bloodlines, and his progeny are an exciting opportunity for both us and other breeders across the country, bringing fresh, valuable genetics into Australian herds.
What started with Willow and Buttercup has grown into Razorback Miniature & Pygmy Goat Stud—a place built on love, dedication, and a commitment to breeding the best of the best.
At Razorback Miniature & Pygmy Goat Stud, the health, wellbeing, and happiness of our goats always come first. All of our goats are DNA tested to verify parentage and confirm their true lineage, which is essential for registration, breeding, and showing. We are proud to be registered breeders with both the MGBA and AGB, and every one of our does and bucks is fully registered.
To ensure they remain in peak health, our goats are all vaccinated with Ultravac 5-in-1, and our herd receives year-round care, high-quality feed, and close monitoring. With 25 beautiful does, we make it a priority to keep them in top condition so they are well-prepared when bred to our buck, Harlem.
Harlem is the heart of our stud—a stunning buck with a sweet and charming nature. He is incredibly affectionate (a real teddy bear at heart!) and adores cuddles just as much as he loves spending time with his girls. His temperament and impressive bloodlines make him a standout sire, and we are proud to have him leading our breeding program.
All of our goats are disbudded at a young age to ensure their safety and prevent them from getting their horns caught in fences. Most of our kids are raised by their mothers and spend their days exploring our large open paddocks, growing up strong, healthy, and well-socialised. At night, our does and their babies are brought into secure pens with access to a large shelter, fresh water, and feed—keeping our little ones safe from foxes during their most vulnerable weeks.
When our kids are weaned, they are ready to move on to their new homes as happy, healthy, and affectionate companions or future breeding prospects. We take great care in raising each and every goat, and we are always excited to see them bring joy to their new families.
When purchasing a Pygmy goat from Razorback Miniature & Pygmy Goat Stud, the wellbeing of our goats is our top priority. Goats are herd animals, so it is extremely important that they are never kept alone. We require all of our goats to go to homes where they will have another goat companion—ideally another Pygmy or miniature breed. Larger breeds can sometimes bully them, as Pygmies are small in size, growing only around 45–60 cm tall at the shoulder.
All of our kids are disbudded for their safety and yours. Disbudding prevents goats from getting their heads stuck in fences and reduces risks to children and other animals. This procedure is done at a young age, and while it is briefly uncomfortable, kids bounce back quickly and return to playing almost immediately.
By 7 weeks of age, our kids receive their Ultravac 5-in-1 vaccination, which protects them against five serious and often fatal clostridial diseases: Pulpy Kidney, Black Disease, Blackleg, Malignant Oedema, and Tetanus. At around 8 weeks old, they are weaned from their mothers and ready to go to their new homes as happy, healthy young goats.
Because goats are considered livestock, buyers must have a PIC number (Property Identification Code). This is a legal requirement in Australia and can be easily applied for online through Local Land Services.
Two goats will need at least a quarter acre of space with secure fencing. Goats are curious and will often nibble on plants, so it’s important to check what is growing in their paddock and along the fence line, as some plants are toxic. Goats also dislike rain and wet conditions, so they must have access to proper shelter.
We recommend feeding a mix of oaten chaff (around 70%) and lucerne chaff (around 30%). While lucerne is nutritious, too much can upset their stomach and cause runny poo. We also feed a small amount of grain—just a handful each—and occasionally provide goat pellets, which they love. As with all feeds, moderation is key to keeping them healthy.
Goats should not be drenched too often, as this can cause resistance to worm treatments. Instead, watch for signs such as lethargy, weight loss, or scours (runny poo). If you notice these symptoms, it’s best to contact your vet for advice on the most suitable drench for your goats.
